.....To tell you a little about myself, I was born in that cultural
capital of New York City called the Bronx, the South Bronx, St. Ann's Ave. to be exact.
I then moved to the northwest Bronx where I lived, worked, and went to
school for most of my life.
I became
interested in special education and people with disabilities while in high school,
doing volunteer work with children with developmental disablities. This work moved me and
at this point I decided to become a teacher of special education. After
graduating from Manhattan College
and then serving in the Army , I began to work for the New York City Board
of Education (District #75 City-Wide Programs). My career to date has
spanned 27 years.
I am currently working at Public School 12X
Astor Day Treatment Center. This facility is a day treatment hospital for
children that exhibit emotional and behavioral disorders. While difficult at
times, I have found my career to be a most rewarding one, which I would not
trade for any other.
.....I have a wonderful family.
I am married to Kathleen Curatolo , who is also a teacher (Guided Reading)
and we have been blessed with two fine children.
My interests outside of my family and career, are
reading.....

Computers
.....I began my interest in computers in 1991 when I started my third tour of graduate work, this time at Teachers College, Columbia University. At first it was just a necessary evil; my wife would not type another grad school paper for me. I inherited an old 286XT from a friend and the rest was history.
.....My computer interests range from educational software to desktop
publishing, "surfing the NET", and finally writing HTML code to develop both academic, commercial, and personal Web Pages..
.....During the summer of 1995 I started working as an adjunct instructor in the
Department of Special Education, teaching a course,
TE4005 - Computer Applications in Special Education, at
Teachers College, Columbia University. That fall I began working as an adjunct professor at Manhattan College.
During the 1999-00 school year,
I will be teaching the following courses at Manhattan College:
